The media narrative of "totally incompetent Russia" is like a runaway train that cannot be stopped. It has to crash because there's no way to explain why a completely incompetent state and military is so difficult to beat in spite of pouring billions and billions of dollars and untold lives and high-tech weaponry into this cause. Unbeatable incompetence?

One of the more fascinating aspects of this war is watching the two different versions play out: the fantasy war vs the real war. Media lies and propaganda have fabricated an entire simulacrum, in which the Russians are as pathetic and evil as possible, while the Ukrainians of course are the heroic Spartans and paladins, all while real events unfold very differently. It's obviously contrived, or at least it should be obvious, but people want to believe it, so they do. I look forward to Russian victory, when the fantasy war gets imploded and it all comes crashing down -- I fully expect the cognitive dissonance to exceed even the 2016 election.

In other words, anytime the Russian government articulates a "security concern" the west should just get out of the way and let them do what they will?
